God Of War Laufey Has Sadly Been Delayed To Later Into 2027

A new delay for God Of War Laufey has landed, and it pushes the next God Of War title out a bit further than expected

It looks as if we have some bad news for all of us looking forward to God Of War Laufey landing this February. It is not happening anymore, as it looks as if Santa Monica Studio needs to hit the PS5 title with a bit of a delay. Okay, maybe it is not a bit of a delay, as it looks like we are going to have to wait a few more months to see God Of War Laufey launching out there. Thankfully, we have a new release date for all of this, with May 20th set as the new day that we are going to be able to continue the saga of Faye and Kratos. So, at least there is a little bit of a silver lining to all of the delay, but it still means that we are going to be waiting just a bit longer for it all.

The reason for this delay has yet to be given, but it was the choice that the studio opted to go with. The obvious response to it all is that the team wants to make certain that God Of War Laufey is pushing everything to the bounds that it can on the console. If I had to toss out my speculation hat, God Of War Laufey was never going to be ready to launch in February, but the publisher needed to drop some good and big news back in July when the date was announced at SDCC. I have mentioned this often, since PlayStation is getting rid of physical discs, and to help sales of this game, they wanted fans to know it was coming before they dropped the support. It is still landing before then, but this new timeline does feel like something the team would have set down before and not what the publisher needed during all of the backlash they were getting in the moment.

Since the reveal of God Of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen. We don’t take for granted the trust placed in our studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans.

With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God Of War Laufey’s release to May 20th, 2027.

We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.
