Extract Some New Kind Of Trauma In The World With That Which Remains

That Which Remains

Another horror extraction title, That Which Remains, is announced to the world and will have us harvesting That Which Remains

It looks as if we are going to have another reason to gear up and go out ghost hunting, as we have the announcement for That Which Remains, which aims to have us do just that. Not in a way that you might think, though, with Remaining Games and Interdimensional Games adding on a fun little twist to that style of gameplay. We will still have all of the normal gear one would expect in a game like this, just with a future edge to it all. That Which Remains will have us coming from the future to do this ghost hunting. Also, well, we might not be hunting ghosts specifically either, but more of the trauma that might have been left behind to cause such things to exist in the first place. If you are intrigued, then let us dive deeper into what has just been announced for this title.

As That Which Remains is going so far, we are in a future world where it looks as if things are a full Utopia. One where the power crisis has been solved, and we all rather live in harmony. That power, of course, is a way to utilize trauma from the world to keep things powered up. That is something that a true Utopia would not have in abundance out there. That is where up to three friends and I are going to be tasked with heading into the past to hunt down locations where massive trauma has occurred already. That way we can harvest it all and bring it back to the present to be used. All so we can earn extra perks in our lives in That Which Remains. Even if that does not seem like something a true utopia would incentivize, we need a good reason to keep on heading into the past to collect all of this and maybe deal with some upset ghosts that might be tied to all of this. It sounds like an interesting thing to run through, and you can see it all in action a little lower down the page here.

That Which Remains — Announcement

1–4 player sci-fi ghost-hunting horror extraction sim with proximity voice chat.

~2250 C.E. We have conquered the human condition, eliminating war, scarcity, and even death itself.

Fusion was a lie. Utopia runs on “Enticine”—liquefied trauma—harvested from an invasive species we call “Neurospatial Parasitic Entities.” Ghosts, to you. Malicious beings born from extreme human trauma; they weaponize the dead and prey on your sanity.

But you can’t harvest trauma from a world that no longer suffers. That’s where you come in. A Relic. Stolen from a long-dead age of suffering and conscripted by Entitech for one purpose: survive for as many days as possible while extracting Enticine from across time and space.

Unfortunately for you, failure and death are only the beginning of your nightmare.

How does the gameplay loop of That Which Remains sound to you, and will it hook you in to keep on heading into the past? Will this be a true utopia that we are going to be living in, or will this be something we see get shaken up as we keep on digging into all of the trauma? Is this just a darker version of Monsters Inc., and would this not be a way the current world could power everything until the sun burns out already? Let us discuss what we can do for the game down in the comment section of the page here. We will have more for That Which Remains up on the website as soon as the teams are ready to share it all with us. Keep an eye out here and on all of our social channels to see when that is all ready to go. You will be glad you stuck with us for all of the fun that we are about to have.
