One new trailer for the Street Fighter movie is out there, and it brings all of the weirdness of the Street Fighter IP
After having so many serious movies out there as of late based on video games, it is almost time for us all to have some silly fun with Street Fighter. Well, after we have to wait another month for it to hit theaters on October 16th, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun right now. In fact, we have a new trailer for the movie out there in the wild, and it is showing off how the cast and crew are going to be taking the whole IP closer to the absurdity of the Street Fighter games rather than trying to make something truly serious. This is a game that has a guy with stretchy arms, another with a foot-tall buzz cut, and another green monster fighting real fighters out there, so it's aimed to be a little absurd. Which is just what we have to look at here in the latest trailer out for us.
Now that we have the little intro out of the way, we can look at all of the new things that we are getting here in Street Fighter. Like the fact that we get to see E. Honda in the mix, and pulling off some very game-accurate attacks. As silly as it is to see a large sumo wrestler fly across a screen and have a hundred hands slapping all about the room. Then we have more of Blanka, Dan, Guile, Akuma, and various others pulling off moves that physics wouldn't allow for, but are extremely iconic for the characters in Street Fighter. That's even ignoring the fireballs and other projectiles that some fighters have to use. All with Guile calling things out for what they are at the end of the whole thing. All of this is to show how they are just going to lean into the source material more than we might have thought, instead of trying to ground any of it or the reason for the tournament to happen. I'm all-in for this and the rest of the insanity we can expect to see.
