Michael Myers Is Picking Up The Knife In Single Player For Halloween

Halloween

The single player mode for Halloween is on display to give us a feel for how that will play out when Halloween starts

We have had the multiplayer look at Halloween, and now we have a solid update on how the single-player part of the game will flow out there. The bigger selling point for so many when IllFonic and Gun Interactive said that the game would have a true single-player mode on top of the asymmetric multiplayer modes that can get rather repetitive quickly. This is something that a few other titles have tried before, and with September 8th not as far off as many might think, this could be the biggest selling point for Halloween when it is ready for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At least for the audience that currently has so many options for the style of play, or has watched as all of the others have been shut down in rather quick timelines. So, let's see how this one will shake things up for us.

For Halloween, it looks as if we are going to get to play the single-player as Michael or The Shape, depending on where we pick up in the six chapters that we will have from the start. All spanning across the time of Michael escaping the sanitarium, to getting the iconic mask and jumpsuit, to the rampage that he inflicts out there before Laurie brings him down. Most of which looks like we are going to be getting all of the same mechanics and action from the multiplayer side of things for Halloween, just with bots playing as the victims. It almost looks and feels like what was done in Evil Dead, where we had a few scripted scenes from the film, but mostly just little missions we could play out when the multiplayer had no players online.

That does have me a little concerned, as the offering of new cosmetics and various other benefits from playing the single-player was the same thing that we were offered up in the other game. One that also had a basic narration to lead us from tableau to tableau with little bits of gameplay to partake in. Not the truest of single-player modes, but the following gameplay does look as if Halloween might have more for us to do. Not to mention, more of a replay value to it all, as we can unlock new ways to execute some of the citizens out there, and the environments are stated to be a bit more dynamic than expected. I'll just be cautiously optimistic about that, as it does sound like the same little bit that we've seen in other titles, which worked, but was not the core experience many were led to think it would be.

Halloween — Singleplayer

For the first time ever, fans can live out the chilling story surrounding Michael Myers’ escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and the terrifying events that followed from the slasher’s cold, calculated perspective. Unlike the film’s protagonists, who desperately attempt to survive an encounter with The Shape, Halloween: The Game encourages players to embody pure evil and commit the horrors that occurred on Halloween Night in 1978 firsthand.

Embrace the darkness and guide Michael Myers across six gripping chapters, featuring new and familiar locations, while the unyielding Dr. Samuel J. Loomis narrates his grisly findings and the tragedy left in Michael’s wake. Witness how Myers acquired his legendary outfit and the instruments of his bloodshed; the jumpsuit, the pale mask, and kitchen knife. Orchestrate the deaths of every unsuspecting victim while carving your own gruesome path toward the final babysitter encounter with Laurie Strode. Stunning cinematic story cutscenes introduce these chapters, characters, and story beats with signature Halloween aesthetics and shot recreations, building a Haddonfield true to the original film.

Much like Halloween: The Game’s robust multiplayer offering, the single-player experience demonstrates the team’s commitment to sandbox-driven gameplay. While the core objectives for each chapter are set, players ultimately decide how to execute their murderous plans. Leverage Michael’s nightmarish suite of special abilities to stalk and slay your way, while utilizing dynamic environments to keep every chapter feeling engaging, satisfying, and surprising.

To encourage further replayability, each chapter contains a distinct set of secondary challenges and in-game collectibles that reveal additional lore, new executions, gameplay scenarios, and even unlock exclusive multiplayer cosmetics for Michael Myers and the Heroes of Haddonfield. Players aiming to become the ultimate Boogeyman will need to tackle several difficulty options designed to test their skills and reward those who truly have what it takes to represent the ruthless Michael Myers.

Does this look like a true single player mode for Halloween to you? Will there be more to it all once we can get into the mix of it all?
