Directive 8020
A new behind-the-scenes video for Directive 8020 is out there, to highlight the world we will be exploring and collectibles in Directive 8020
It is time to join the crew over at Supermassive Games again for Directive 8020, as they dive further into the crew we are going to experience some horrors with. Although this time, it is more about the corporation that has sent us all on this quest and the planet that we will find ourselves landing on in the game. All of that, and finally a better look at how Directive 8020 is going to link back to the core of The Dark Pictures with the collectibles that will have us locked into our PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC when May 12th comes around. All manner of fun with the game is on the way, and we get a little peek at it in the following video that is out there.
Just as we have seen in many other Sci-Fi settings, Directive 8020 is going to have one corporation that is trying to save humanity. That would be Corinth. The way they are trying to save humanity is to find another planet for the species to inhabit, and most likely, destroy. The planet they find is Tau Ceti f, which is one based on something we can find in the real world. In Directive 8020, it is also the place where the shapeshifting aliens start to mess with our crew and aim to help them all stop living. It would not be a great horror title if there was not something like that in the mix, right? You can see a little more on all of that in the following video, but there is a bit more of a focus on the collectibles we are going to find in the game. Some that link us back to the past IPs, but also with some other elements mixed in to explain how we got to where we are in the story hundreds of years later. Now things are starting to tie together.
Directive 8020 — Crew Transmission #02 - Corinth & Tau Ceti f
Welcome to the second Dev Diary for Directive 8020.
In this episode, Supermassive Games introduces you to humanity’s potential new home and the corporation taking us there.
Featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, this series is your first look inside the making of our most ambitious Dark Pictures journey yet.
Directive 8020 releases on 12th May 2026.
From the creators of Until Dawn and The Quarry – Directive 8020 is an all-new cinematic sci-fi horror adventure that blends intense survival gameplay with meaningful choices and a branching storyline.
Are you glad to see that there is going to be a true link between Directive 8020 and all of the past titles, and will it be more than just dolls of the killers in the games? Will any of the other supernatural things make their way into space, or will it just be further signs of why humans are trying to leave Earth? How do you think that the story will make the corporation feel different than the others we have seen in Sci-Fi horror, and is it scary that we are seeing these things happening today? Let us have those thoughts in the comment section so we can all discuss them. We are going to have more for Directive 8020 soon, so please keep checking back in with the website and all of our social channels to ensure you catch it all. Things are picking up for this one, and I can only see the ball rolling faster in the coming weeks.
