Directive 8020
Directive 8020 will be getting some gameplay filters to play with, along with a few more extras in the Deluxe Edition of Directive 8020
If you were looking for more reasons to pick up the Deluxe Edition of Directive 8020 when it lands on May 12th, then you are little more in luck. It seems as if Supermassive Games is still slow-rolling out all of those updates to us, and now we have some extra gameplay filters we will be able to experience the whole game with. I am never quite sure why these are big things for gamers, but if you need to see the full experience of Directive 8020 in a classic VHS mode while running the game on your PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC, then there will be an option for just that. As long as you pre-order the Deluxe Edition of the game, that is. That is not all you will be getting, though, as it seems there is a little more hidden in all of these pre-orders as well.
So, this filter pack that we can snag for Directive 8020 as of right now, will include three new filters to slap over the visuals of the game. There's the VHS one that was mentioned before, along with an 8mm film grain and a classic Black & White. All new ways to watch all of the horrors of the game fall apart, as they say. What is interesting here is that it looks like there will be new missions linked into all of this for Directive 8020, which gives a little more incentive to buy the Deluxe Edition of the game. Even if that does sound as if they are putting a pay wall up to block out content that should just be in the base game. We all had planned DLC, but when you make things like missions and story elements that are only available to those who toss out more money, that does not sit well. They are only listed as "new missions", so maybe these are future things to hit the game, but it currently sounds like it is something that is complete and only going to be available for those who can afford it.

Do you enjoy playing games with these weird filters on, and will this somehow make Directive 8020 more enjoyable? Do you think there will be more added down the line, like a CRT or Security Screen filter, or will it only be these three for the extra price? Does it worry you that there is a listing for new missions in all of this, and will it be something that lands on day one instead of weeks down the line? Let us have that discussion in the comment section further down the page here. I know I am still excited to experience Directive 8020, but all of these extras are pushing me more to just the base game instead. Mostly, as it feels a little scummy to be charging more for things that used to just be part of the base experiences before. That includes having missions that sound as if they will be behind a paywall of some sort.
