The Run
The FMV game, The Run, is finally taking the fun run to the PC, with The Run starting very soon on Steam
Those who have been feeling as if they have been missing out on the fun of The Run given the release platforms out there, well, it looks like the game is finally coming to the PC. Not just coming to the PC, via Steam, but coming on February 5th. So, lace up those shoes to get ready for what PRM Games has had out there on the mobile devices for a bit. As long as you are in for a crazy FMV horror title, since that is what The Run is designed to be. I know that will turn off some of you, but this one does look as if it is making use of the style and the latest visual techniques to keep the genre running just a little longer. Let's have a look at it to get fully up to speed.
Those not caught up on The Run, it is a game that places us into the shoes of a fitness influencer who has been taking runs through Northern Italy. During these runs, it looks like some terrible people have made the choice to hunt our influencer and friends down. Now, we are tasked with playing through the movie of it all, while making split decisions along the way to further the story and horror of it all. All as we play through to five distinct endings and witness 20 ways that we will have a Game Over screen pop up. Not exactly the way many of us will want The Run to go, but it will lead those sadists out there trying to find all the different ways this was all filmed. Even if it does feel as if there is not as much footage as there should be to make this one long run at the FMV space. Over 3½ hours doesn't feel like it is going to be long, unless that is how much was left after all of the editing and post-production…
The Run — Release Date
Set along a remote running trail on the breathtaking shores of Lake Garda, Northern Italy, the game follows a famous fitness influencer whose morning run spirals into a desperate fight for survival. Hunted by seemingly motiveless killers, players must make split-second decisions that shape the story in real time, with every choice potentially leading to salvation… or death.
Featuring a stellar cast led by Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones, Strike Back) and George Blagden (Vikings, Versailles), the experience also includes unforgettable appearances from horror icon Dario Argento and screen legend Franco Nero. With more than three and a half hours of filmed content, multiple branching storylines, twenty unique deaths, and five distinct endings, no two playthroughs are ever the same.
Beyond traditional gaming, The Run has captivated audiences worldwide with screenings at Raindance London, MOTELX Lisbon, Dinard, and Imagine Amsterdam, before taking over London’s Genesis Cinema for a two-month residency where audiences voted on critical story decisions in real time using glow sticks, transforming gameplay into a shared cinematic event.
Key Features:
- Choice-Driven Narrative with five dramatically different endings
- Timed & Paused Choices for solo play or live audience participation
- 20 Unique Deaths determined entirely by player decisions
- Dynamic Story Map revealing every branching path
- Over 3½ Hours of Filmed Content merging cinema and gameplay into one seamless experience
- A New Era of Interactive Entertainment where storytelling, gaming, and cinema collide
Have you had chance to take The Run on the mobile devices already? How will this flow when it comes to the PC side of things? Will we ever get to see this title land on the consoles in the future? Will the 3+ hours of footage be what is in the game, or is that truly how much they were able to capture and slop together into the game? Let's talk all about that and everything else that comes to mind as we wait. With The Run taking off in just a few weeks, we are going to keep our eyes open to spot more for the game's release. I don't expect there will be much more, unless they add in other platforms, but I'll add it to the site when it comes. Just be sure to come back often and follow all of our socials to see and hear about any of these updates that do land out there.
