Capes Makes It Time For Us All To Start Meeting The Heroes

Capes

A new demo for Capes is out there while those that are holding off get a chance to meet the various Capes we will play as

It has been a bit of time since we had a chance to see anything for Capes, but here we go with a nice little update and a whole lot more to see. A whole lot more if you are looking to load up the latest demo for the game that Spitfire Interactive has dropped out there for us all on the PC. Those looking to play Capes on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or Switch are going to have to wait a bit. That is the nature of how all of this rolls out, sadly. That does not mean that there is not something exciting for everyone to see, though, so do not lose any hope out there heroes.

Those that are not rushing out to play the demo right now, here we go with the first look at one of the heroes in Capes. This is Facet. This is the hero that is covered in all of the crystals that we have seen prominently up to now and now is the time to meet him. As it all sounds, on top of using the crystals to attack, the powers seem to absorb damage in the mix too so Facet can hit harder and explode in a wave of crystals as an ultimate kind of move. All while being able to build walls and other crystals out in the world for the other heroes of Capes to use too. Since this is all a turn-based title, there is going to be a solid need to set up all of your allies so powers can all be used together too. Not a bad way to kick things off here.

Capes — Meet The Heroes Ep.1: The Ultimate Defender

Developer Spitfire Interactive and Publisher Daedalic Entertainment invite all wannabe heroes to leap into action and start the fight for liberation in a new demo for Capes that is available now! Capes will launch in early 2024 and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

To give this announcement extra WHAM! and POW! and to get players in the mood while they download the new demo, Daedalic Entertainment and Spitfire Interactive have also released the first episode of the new “Meet The Heroes” video series. Each episode showcases a new hero and their unique abilities. The first episode revolves around Facet who can grow razor-sharp crystal shards to protect himself and others from enemy attacks.

Capes is a highly anticipated turn-based superhero strategy game where XCOM fans will feel right at home. The gameplay is embedded in a cinematic story: Twenty years ago, the supervillains won. Since then, they’ve created a dystopian city where developing superpowers is a crime and no one has dared oppose them. Until now! Assemble a diverse team of heroes while fighting to take back their city, now controlled by evil despots! Play across the dark and gritty campaign and patrol assignments, push the story forward, and reveal the truth behind the horrific Enhancement program of The Company that is pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Beyond the campaign, players can take time to explore side missions to unlock more heroes and complete challenges which allows them to increase their heroes’ powers and learn more about their deep backstories.

The basics of Facet may not look overly exciting for Capes as of yet, but I can see how well this is all going to meld together in the game. As a fan of a true turn-based game, I can see how the character can be used to some solid uses when given the time to think and plan. I know that I will be diving into the PC demo that is out there to get some more for the character and the others in Capes, as this one looks like it will be a fun side game. Maybe even a main one if all of the characters have the same massive stories that we have seen in the other hero and comic IPs out there. Having powers is cool, but how they affect the user and the world is always an interesting thing to take in along the way.

Do you like how Facet is here in Capes or are you excited to see one of the others in the mix? Do you like that we will be able to set up many other things in the game with the turn-based systems or do you need to have action all the time? Will you be playing the demo that is out there or are you going to hold off until you can play the full title in 2024? Take to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else we have to share with the world. We will have a lot more for Capes as we move forward, so please keep on coming back here to see how it all evolves down the line.
