Looks like there's a new Fallout on the horizon, but this time it's taking place in good old Lady Luck Las Vegas. That's right at a press event in London, Bethesda Softworks said that Obsidian (known for KotORII, Neverwinter Nights 2 add-ons Storm of Zehir and Mask of the Betrayer) will be developing the new Fallout title. Seems that Chris Avellone will be the lead game designer on this project. You may know his works from KotOR II or Planescape : Torment. Peter Hines the vice president of Bethesda Softworks stated that "it is not a sequel to Fallout 3, it's simply another Fallout game in that universe." (via planetxbox).
This is an interesting turn of events considering that Interplay had developed Fallout 1 and 2 and Chris Avellone from obsidian also worked on Fallout 2. But word around the web is that Bethesda wants the whole Fallout MMO trademark back from interplay, because of lack of development and progress (via edgar-online).
Fallout: New Vegas is slated to come out 2010.
