Friday The 13th
The much requested single player feature for Friday The 13th: The Game has been confirmed but that means that we won't be seeing Friday The 13th launch this year
It looks like we have yet another good news/bad news scenario here and this one crops up for Friday The 13th: The Game. It has been one title I have had close to my heart since Gun Media and Illfonic first announced it and kept bringing us more and more for it during the days of Kickstarter. That's why I'm going to start with the bad news here first for Friday The 13th so we can get to the positive side of all of this. Yes, it looks like the game is going to be delayed until early 2017 for the all three platforms it was announced on. That being the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Sad news now that I won't get to instill horror with Jason for a few extra months now.
Now for the good news. It looks like this delay is happening due to the fact that more funding has been throw and the teams there and it looks like Friday The 13th: The Game is going to be getting a lot of the fan requested items and things that were not made during the stretch goal phase of funding. Those being that Tommy Jarvis will be a playable character in the game and we are going to get to go to Packanack Lodge to slay. Oh, and AI Bots will be included and there will be a Single Player campaign. Yes, A SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN!!! I think my day has just been made here.
In addition to all of that, it looks like the beta release for Friday The 13th is going to be hitting Fall of 2016 and it will allow us to grant up to four additional players into it if they so want. Yes, there is the delay and all but there are so many little extras here and fan wanted features that we all need to look over all of that and just get excited for it all. I know I am and I really hope that Friday The 13th: The Game prospers even more from all of this. It has been an amazing ride so far and it looks to get even better here with time.

"The first thing people are going to read here is 'delay,' says Gun Media studio head and co-creator Wes Keltner. 'We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We've been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn't ignore our fans. After securing funding, we're here to tell you that it is a reality and we're making this game even bigger. It sucks that there's a delay, but the wait won't be too long and it's going to offer more for fans in the long-run!"
Here's an updated timeline. Roughly as follows:
- Late 2016: Beta Release including 4 additional keys for friends
- Early 2017: Multiplayer Release with Tommy Jarvis and Packanack Lodge as the third playable map
- Summer 2017: Single Player Release and AI Bots
Of course all of this is still in the early stage of things and there is no word on what will be in the single player version of Friday The 13th. If I had to venture a guess I would think that the Pamela Tapes will be something mixed in there as collecting them during a multiplayer mission would be a bit rough. That and since that is all new story and cannon for the franchise it would make sense that the story and everything would be part of it too. Excitement is almost uncontrollable over here and that is a rare thing. Hopefully we can get time to speed up so we can all experience what Friday The 13th: The Game has to offer in both forms of the game now.
Are you as excited as I am to see Friday The 13th: The Game is getting a single player mode? Are you glad to see a lot of the other fan requested items have now been funded by an outside source? What do you think the single player will hold for us all and will it too be cannon or just a fun hack-n-slash kind of thing? Let us know your thoughts and feelings in the comments below and discuss. For all things Friday The 13th be sure to stay right here as we'll have more as it comes and you won't want to miss out on a single update or morsel of news.
