Um…I really don't know what to say this time. Other than it looks like the previously mentioned boat has now brought that jumper to the ramp before the shark. This new episode has completely deviated from the original pitch from last year. It reeks of either studio demands or that the production team stopped caring about bring what was originally hyped. I knew Baraka was going to be grossly different than the "real world" rendition, but they went all fantasy on it.
Outside of fully deviating from the original gritty real world feel, most of this week's episode is also done in an animatic format. Did they spend all the money and time on makeup for Baraka and the fantasy sets and just have to make up by hiring a few artists to fill in the blanks? It really seems like the original "magic" has completely faded away now.
Bitching aside, this week's episode begins to tackle the dynamic of Kitana, Mileena and Sindel. It also brings into the story Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung's relationship. All mixed with the Otherworldly Outworldly magic and fantasy. I'm not huge on this happening, but it does beat the movie rendition somewhat. I just have a feeling we will be seeing more of the magic/fantasy that was not the original selling point of the project.
Here's the episode.
