Well here is an interesting twist to the whole Final Fantasy XIII ten year plan. Just announced is the oddly named Final Fantasy XIII-2, a continuation to the story of FFXIII. I say it is odd because Square Enix tried this before with FFX-2 which didn't do as well as any of their wholly new story lined titles with Final Fantasy in the title. Yes I know I used the title way too many times there. Sue me.

While there is not much in the way of details outside of a 2011 release date on the PS3 and 360, here is what has been spilled so far. The story will start somewhere after FFXIII's ended. It is supposed to be a completely new story, but I don't see how that will be possible as it is building off an existing one. Also it is suppose to have an "evolved" combat system using the original as a base. Let's hope that it isn't going to be a Dress Sphere like set up. Am I right?

Oh, also with this new announcement is some footage of the on-again/off-again Final Fantasy Versus XIII title exclusively for the PS3. Again not too much in the way of details, unless you speak/read Japanese, but there is at least something. It at least looks a bit more promising than the previously mentioned title. A lot darker and less fantasy from the looks of it. We'll update as new information hits about both of these titles.
