Ubisoft isn't satisfied with having several high profile titles on the way, nor are they satisfied with simply releasing a game like Splinter Cell: Conviction - no, they key is releasing an edition with such an amount of assuredly irresistible goodness that you can't help buy commit heart and soul to the product. Is that the case here? Take a look.
This particular editions comes with:
- Splinter Cell-branded USB drive that includes a "Making of" feature, wallpaper, concept art, storyboards, and more
- an art book titled Fifth Freedom: The Art of Splinter Cell
- a pair of decals
- a prequel comic book called Digging in the Ashes
- a "steelbook" DVD case.
- and several in game bonuses: "first access" to the close-quarters MP5-SD3 submachine gun and a 3rd Echelon outfit for multiplayer action
All of this can be your for $80 dollars come the game's release in February. Now my question - is it all worth it? Well, for those heavily invested in the mythology of the game, I'm sure the answer is a resounding yes. However, having "first access" to a weapon you will presumably end up getting anyway along with some "making of" content may not be for everyone. I myself tend to buy the Collector's Edition of most games because I like seeing the process and evolution of a title and most offer that. Indeed, it will essentially come down to if you have enough conviction in the franchise to make this part of your swag library.
