PAX 2009 Impression: Shank

As I was walking around the PAX show floor, I happen to nearly walk by this Gem of a game. This is a game that seemed to nearly go un-notice at PAX 2009. Major titles like Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo: ODST and more at PAX make this game to be an extremely hidden gem for many of us that tried it out. For a game that has yet to be picked up by any publisher, that didn’t stopped Klei Entertainment to showcase their game Shank.

What do we know about this game? After picking up a controller of the three to choose from (360, Dreamcast, and Atari), I'd have to say that Shank was by far one of best games I played over PAX weekend. It was simple, to the point, and, importantly, fun as hell! Shank is a 2D action game that sort of feels like a Final Fight game, but this time you have a knife, shogun, 2 pistols, a chainsaw, and grenades. Graphically, it is in beautifully done cartoon art-style. All with a hint of over the top character design, but who cares it still looks awesome.

There is no time frame as to when this game will be released. Or as to who will pick up the publishing job. But as a gamer I am begging for anyone to snag up this gem of a game so I can buy it! Klei Entertainment has also releases titles called Sugar Rush and Eets.
