Saturday Morning Cartoons Are Striking Back With The Full Release Of MythForce

MythForce

The full release for MythForce is now on the way with a 1.0 version of MythForce listed for later this year

Good morning readers! It is that time of day to dive back into some cartoons and this time it is with the upcoming MythForce that has been out there for a while. At least in some ways and not in all ways with Beamdog still needing some time to put some finishing touches on the game. Although, that would not be a fun update for those out there that have been looking forward to MythForce. So, we will go with one of the bigger things to come out of Steam Next Fest for this title and that is that the 1.0 version of the game will be hitting the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC this coming Fall. So, if you are not up for more Early Access games, then you will be able to get your favorite cereal ordered and ready to experience all of this in just a few more months.

Although, that is not where this update ends, with the announcement that there is currently a demo out there on the PC for MythForce for those that want to see what this roguelike title has in store for them. A demo that will only run until June 26th, but it could be enough to pull you in for the Early Access so you can keep playing with your friends until this Fall rolls on us. So many options to head into these cursed lands in MythForce as well as get some of that classic 80s and 90s feeling cartoons back in your life out there. Get ready to start playing with your friends again out there if you have not since these kinds of visuals were popular.

Ok, all of that out of the way for MythForce, and for those just now hearing about this title, it is an online co-op roguelike that has been out there for a little over a year at this point. One of its big draws, just as a few other games out there have used, is the art style. As you can see in the following trailer for MythForce, it uses that of He-Man or She-Ra among a few cartoons out there. All while having us drop in and out with one of the various characters in the story. A story set in a magical and fantasy land where we will need to keep on pressing through to make sure we can see the final episode of it all. Yeah, it has episodes with three of them coming for the final build whereas we are stuck with one for now.

MythForce — 1.0 Announcement

Developer Beamdog and publisher Aspyr have revealed that the roguelike action game MythForce is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, as well as graduating from early access on the Epic Games Store, this fall. MythForce has a free Steam demo playable now through June 26 as part of Steam Next Fest. Experience gripping first-person combat in a world inspired by the style and adventure of Saturday morning cartoons!

MythForce is a roguelike adventure featuring a four-player online cooperative multiplayer set in the ever-changing Cursed Lands. Unleash your inner hero in intense first-person combat, wielding legendary weapons and powerful magic in an immersive fantasy dungeon crawl that will test your skills and leave you craving for more.

The official 1.0 launch of MythForce on consoles and PC will feature three episodes (up from one in early access), unlockable difficulty modes for even greater challenges, and an overhaul of the meta-progression system with drop-in/drop-out functionality for online co-op.

Key Features:

  • Star In Your Own Saturday Morning Cartoon: Step into a vibrant and colorful world crafted using the classic aesthetics and techniques of the '80s animation era.
  • High Fantasy Swords & Sorcery: Feel the thrill of each swing and the might of each spell as you smite hordes of enemies and emerge victorious in heart-pounding, first-person combat.
  • Deep Roguelike Adventure: Level up as you explore the dungeon, uncovering magical artifacts and upgrades to become even stronger with each playthrough.
  • Play Together With Friends: Team up with friends or meet fellow adventurers online to conquer the Cursed Lands together in co-op mode for up to four players.

I do have to say, MythForce does feel like it is using the gimmick that it has set up well, but it is hard to tell if it is going to be just as fun to play as it is to watch. That is more on the side of my lack of preference for Roguelike games out there. The setting and look of it all hit all of those nostalgic feelings for me, but if the game is not good, then it is just all flash and no substance. I guess, that is why we will be out there giving the demo a try to see if the highlight reel of gameplay that the teams have offered up will make that final sale on MythForce to me. It does have a few things in its favor already…

Have you heard of MythForce before now or will this be the time you get into it with the demo still available as of this writing? Will this all be about the art and style or will the team find a way to make roguelikes fun as very few other games have been able to do? Will there only be three episodes in total or will this be a title that is always growing and evolving just as the cartoons of yore used to do? Let us all talk about this down in the comments section. We will find more to share for MythForce and share it all here for you. Please keep on coming back to see and hear all of that as it flows out there.
