Sundered Has Been Announced And Test Your Sanity And Survival Skills

Sundered

A new title, Sundered, has been announced and Sundered looks to bring back some of the great Metroid and Castlevania platforming to us all

In the mix of all the larger titles that are being announced and shown off here as of late it is a bit refreshing to see a smaller title like Sundered get the full announcement and everything. This would be the follow up title from Thunder Lotus Games here that brings us back into the Metroid and Castlevania style of gameplay all with some amazing hand-drawn art. I'm not talking that Sundered has hand-drawn art here to look at in terms of concept but that the game is going to have that look and feel in the final game when it launches in 2017 for the PS4, Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.

Full details on Sundered are still sparse as we are in the announcement steps for the game but you can see the art style in the following trailer to see if it that piques your interest first. If not, then maybe the story of you being a character named Eshe who is tasked with traveling around the ruin world of the game that is ever changing. Not just in the "theory" of a destroyed world changing but the fact that it is all procedurally generated and ever-changing in that aspect too. How that will drive a story that has us taking down bosses and whatnot is anyone's guess but that is the short and curly of it all.

Sundered — Announcement Trailer

Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a handdrawn epic from the creators of Jotun. You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in everchanging caverns teeming with eldritch horrors. Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the cost of your humanity.

I won't deny that Sundered looks amazing so far. At least in terms of the art style and what has been shown off so far. The gameplay looks a little too "retro" for my normal tastes but so did the mechanics of Guacamelee and that quickly made its way into my heart so we'll have to see. Of course that is just my thoughts on it all and we'll see how it all progresses now that the word is out there for all to take in and form their own thoughts around.

Do you have any thoughts on Sundered based on just this video and announcement so far? Do you think that the hand-drawn art style is going to become over used here soon given its popularity in a few recent titles in the works? Do you think that this will be just another Metroidvania style game to be lost to the sands of time? Let us know what you are thinking and discuss in the comments below. For more on Sundered as we get it all be sure to stay right here as we'll bring it to you as soon as we get our hands on it.
